Never Give Up, Never Surrender

An image of actor Sugith Varughese. It took three hundred and nineteen episodes, but we finally did an episode of Someone Else’s Movie on Galaxy Quest.

Thanks are entirely due to my guest, Sugith Varughese — whom you may know from Kim’s Convenience and Transplant, and who just turned up on The Expanse — and who loves Dean Parisot’s 1999 sci-fi confection just as much as I do, Tim Allen and all.

It’s a really fun conversation, with more than a few insights into Sugith’s own work, and I hope you like it. Subscribe on Apple PodcastsGoogle Play and Stitcher and get the episode immediately, or download it directly from the web. You’ll enjoy it.

And speaking of Kim’s Convenience, the show returns to the air next Tuesday, and look who’s talking about it on today’s episode of NOW What!

Paul, Jean, Simu and Andrew join me for a conversation about shooting a sitcom during a pandemic, the darker turn Season Five might be taking, and a few other things … like the fun fact that Paul and Simu now exist in the Star Wars and Marvel universes, respectively. They’re good people. It’s a good talk. Listen to that too. Or watch the video. Or read it! All options are available right here.

  1. By Grabthar’s hammer, such episode!

It must be great when a guest picks a movie you’ve been particularly looking forward to discussing on the show, and this episode was enormously entertaining. You’ve already done one of my favorite movies recently (All That Jazz). Here’s hoping you have future guests who pick these movies, which I’d love to hear dissected and discussed:
    The Lion in Winter
    Tombstone
    Sucker Punch
Little Women (cage match between the Gillian Armstrong and Greta Gerwig versions)
