My Harbourfront Free Flicks series usually starts on the first Wednesday of July, But this year they wanted to get things rolling a little early, so we’re kicking it off tonight with a little something special for Canada Day.

Tonight at around 9 pm, I’ll be introducing The Adventures of Bob & Doug McKenzie in Strange Brew, the delightful feature debut of Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas’ beloved SCTV characters. It’s also one of the most inventive reworkings of Hamlet ever produced, casting the lovable hosers as Rosencrantz and Guildenstern in an increasingly ridiculous tale of betrayal, succession and hockey. Also, it has Max Von Sydow in it.
