Here’s Johnny! (And Gord.)

We don’t get a lot of Kubrick on Someone Else’s Movie.

Indeed, almost exactly four years into this podcast project, The Shining is only the third of his films that’s been brought onto the show, after Dr. Strangelove all the way back in 2016 and 2001 last summer.

But I’m delighted for the opportunity, both because The Shining is a weirdly compelling thing even if it isn’t 100% successful as conventional horror, and because it let me sit down with actor, playwright and now filmmaker Gord Rand — whose feature debut Pond Life makes its world premiere at Canadian Film Fest later this month, and who co-stars opposite friend of the show Carolina Bartczak in the upcoming drama An Audience of Chairs — to talk about it for an hour. So we did that!
